A box and a box

I am not good with boxes. They are "not my cup of tea", "not my strong side", "not my line", not me! But! I still have plenty of blanks of different sizes and shapes and want to get rid of them, so here we are - new boxes:

To keep the gardening theme the second one is a seed box:

The Box "Antique China"

I was making this box all summer I think... It was so slow that I haven't noticed that it was finished eventually, brought to the shop and sold. Now I try to rearrange my photos and decided to show it. Here it is!

Bathroom Set "Violet Bouquet"

I want to show the set of trug and small bucket suitable for a bedroom or a bathroom storage. Somewhere in a feminine retreat anyway...

I didn't paint inside the trug to show that it's made of solid wood (and should be treated accordingly!)

Box "House of Orchids"

This is a medium size box from IKEA's set of three.

I liked this napkin and wanted turquoise and grey colours. I played with colours a lot and finished with green patinating was, a very little patina and light gold on edges. Inside is bare wood. I like it actually!..

Box Rose Wreath

You might remember the two rose boxes I've made recently. They were shown here. The last one of the set of three, the biggest one has been left for a while. I have it finished just today.
Because it is rather large box (30x10x9 cm) I didn't want it rosy pink and chose slightly different design of rose wreath in cooler greenish colour with a tint of grey. Pict 518Pict 519 Pict 521Pict 525

Decoupage Paradise

If there is anywhere decoupage paradise - it is in Brazil! When I was just making plans for my trip I mainly was interested in products Daiara well-known Brazilian craftswoman Iara Carparo. And here I want to thank Olga Ponomarenko who are going to deal with Daiara products and who provided me with the comprehensive informations. Thank you very much, Olga!
But I would be completely lost in Sao Paulo without help of my dear friend (I hope!) Mercedes Duran and her daughter who not only took me to the craft shops, gave me invaluable advice on all products but also showed me her wonderful works in her atelier. I am so thankful to Mercedes! If you do not know yet HERE is her blog where you can see her beautiful works!
Yes, I've bought some Daiara products but I was surprised how many other firms and labels exist and all are products of Brazilian industry. Now I have materials of three firms at least.
I bought a lot of MDF blanks of which there are huge variety and endless choice. And at very reasonable prices! I was not going to buy but just could not help it!

This is a little haberdashery box with three sticks for holding thread rolls.
And the next is a box with laser cut design on the lid. This design is created by Mercedes!

And this is my decoupage treasure! My main goal was to buy a colourless Goma Laca. I use Goma Laca (shellac) for making craquelure but usualy it is a bit yellowish, even the very best and I had no idea that such thing as colourless shellac exists! It does exist and I bought plenty! What else?.. Primer, glue for napking, fabric and decoupage paper, size for gilding, liners, even some paint!
I was told that in June Sao Poulo hold a large fair of craft products, the biggest in South America. I can imagine!
Some of these materials I have already tried (not all yet!) and very happy with.

Being inspired by Mercedes's works I bought some laser cut decorative details (I wish I got more!)
PB6

Some day I went to see other shops which sell products for other crafts such as knitting and sewing. They are endless and huge, and everything is very cheap by our standards! I could not resist and bought a few rolls of ribbons and even lace!
PB7

And there are some things which I had no idea what they are for, like this. Do you know what it is for? I didn't! It is for making even dots! If you want to make a lot of dots of the same size you use it! And there is a choice of four sizes in each piece! I am lost for words...

Dear girls! If any of you are interested in any particular product or you want to get some additional information, just ask!

CD Box

Initially this CD box was a rather dull plywood piece, very functional but very plain. To make it more attractive - easy job: paint in and out, use suitable napkin with musical images and decoupage paper with ancient sheet of music on it and add some ageing. I made craquelure inside and outside the box and heighten effect with patina. Here we are - still practical but much more exiting!

Mini Chest "Sweety Pink"

This mini chest of drawers is veeery pink and girly! But sometimes I want to steer away from vintage and create something completely different and I enjoy making it very much. It is rather tiny you can see by the size of buttons. I use various napkins to create nice mixture of designs but tried to stay with the same hues of pink. I hope you like it!

Set of Boxes "English Roses"

Back to work, back to reality! Long holiday is over and I try to get back to normal life. This is my first project in a new year, very simple as you can see. I suppose you recognise IKEA's set of three boxes and I managed only two!.. The third one will have to wait.

Box for Letters and Papers

This is a large box for keeping letters and papers format A5. The lid decorated with images of classic car racing so that it could be a nice gift for a gentleman.

The box is wooden, but looked very dull so I decided to paint the whole box white and then paint faux wood grain. I am rather pleased with the result!
