Missed Trug

Last summer I made quite a few (three actually) trugs and shown some but not all apparently...

This one was left behind and I've found out it just now! So here it is! I am not happy with pictures, but I can't make new ones, all thrugs are long gone...

New Year Diaries

End of year means a new year, a new year means a new diary, it means decoupage! Every year I decorate 3-4 diaries with a very different images, but this one - medieval book illustrations - is always in presence. I bought this paper two years ago in some museum in Munich and use everywhere since. Sorry to bore you with the repeats but I love this paper to bits!

Of course I can't stay away from a vintage theme! This year it's going to be Americana and Wild West. Hope I haven't overdone ageing!.. Pict 990 Pict 991

Another One!

Here we are again! I am working hard, this is another one!

I wanted it to look more 50's (or 60's?) that's why such a choice of motive and bold colours.

Picture Frame "Elegant Era"

I am sure that every handmaker accumulates things like blanks, supplies and so on "just in case"... It's fine for me with paints and napkins (not so sure about them ...), but blanks are so bulky! So I made a rule - if I buy a new blank box or frame I should start to decorate it stright away and not hide them in a box and forget about them. This is a wooden frame I've bought recently and finished the same week!

I wanted it to be an elegant piece with a slight vintage feel.

The Box "Antique China"

I was making this box all summer I think... It was so slow that I haven't noticed that it was finished eventually, brought to the shop and sold. Now I try to rearrange my photos and decided to show it. Here it is!

A Trug "Roses De Paris"

A new trug, I like this blank!

I use two different napkins to make a background slightly more interesting.

I have one more but I think you deserve a break!

Bathroom Set "Violet Bouquet"

I want to show the set of trug and small bucket suitable for a bedroom or a bathroom storage. Somewhere in a feminine retreat anyway...

I didn't paint inside the trug to show that it's made of solid wood (and should be treated accordingly!)

Inspirational Works

I do nothing and show nothing... But Sandra's decoupaged soaps look so lovely that I decided to give it a go! This is a result:

I've decoupaged some soaps once while making bathroom set but that time it was pure decorative.

But Sandra knows the way of making them practical, so that the picture stays intact while you use the soap (I checked!). It seems I am hooked and I will definitely make more!

And at the end I would like to show some pictures of my new hydrangeas. This hydrangea macrophylla Masja is a compact plant, ideal for growing in containers. I am not very keen on the macrophyllas, but I like the deep colour and tidy appearance of the plant.

This one is hydrangea paniculata 'Vanilla Fraise'. I do like the paniculatas and this one is stunning! When I got a new plant this spring I was disappointed with it's size - it looked more like a rooted cuttings than a proper plant. But by the August it produced three huge heads which change the colour from the pure white to the blushing pink. Looks absolutely great!

Magazine Folder "The Birds of America"

In complete contrast to the previous post with an elegant (or pretending to be!) box, I want to show you a very vintage looking (tatty is a word!) magazine folder.

Again I used vintage poster with the images of the birds of American continent. I agree that the decoration of the folder's insides is a total waste of time and effort, but I've got a napkin with a picture of American robin and wanted to use it to keep the overall theme. I add some random craquelure, black specs, some patina on the edges to complete the picture.

New Letter Stand

Due to various circumstances I do very little now... So this is a rare occasion that I can show something new. This is a letter stand rather simple...

I used a scrap paper with Da Vinci's drawings on the front and the bottom panels and added some clock images from well known napkins. Craquelure on the plain panels and on the back helps to tie it all together.

Watering Can "Hydrangea"

With all this rain watering can are not in great demands unfortunately... But I can't help myself and keep making them all the same! And hope for the bright feature! Pict 670Pict 670a

Two for one

I was away for a while and didn't do much. But just before I left there was an order for me to make a glasscase. The requirements were: dark colours, book theme. A lady wanted me to make two cases so that she could choose one. Here they are. On the back on the first case there is a craquelure as well, but too fine to be seen on photo.

What is interesting she likes them both!

Tray "A Poppy Field "

You might remember that I promised more trays? This is one of them! I bought the blank (the proper tray actually) because it was discounted and scratched anyway! It was (still is!) the metal tray with rather basic fixing and a bleak image. It was ready for upcycling! Because of shiny metal finish I've choosen bright red colour to keep with the industrial feel.
