Faux Stone Compost Bin

Don’t get over excited, it is not a 120L compost bin hidden at the bottom of the garden! As most of gardeners I am a strong believer in homemade compost and try to save all my kitchen waste for composting. This is a container for all veg peels, egg shells, used teabags and so on. I decorated it long ago and it becomes rather tatty and was waiting for getting a makeover. I got my inspiration from my kitchen tiles, which look like stone. Last year I made such a vase and decided to try something similar. And here we are! Very posh faux stone compost bin!

I can write a small tutorial on this technique, if anybody is interested.

Easter eggs for Christmas!

I know, it sounds funny, but it is true! As usual I made some decorative eggs before Easter and people are buying them through year up to the Christmas. In November the last two were gone so I decided to make few more. Here they are!

I am very pleased that people often comment on the smooth glossy finish of the eggs. I am going to show you the very simple way of getting it. All you need is a piece of wooden plank and a long screw going through it. Now you can dip an egg in the varnish and let it drip. Glossy finish garanteed!

Magazine Files

I like to make functional things, something practical, that can be used every day. Something like these magazine files here - they are solid plywood,
painted inside and out and decorated in a rather neutral way.

Piece of cake!

There was no crafting today because I was baking. Every Wednesday a lovely lady - my neighbour - bakes cakes for a weekly gathering at local church. This week she was not that well so I did it. Five apple pies to feed 40 people - piece of cake! Actually there were six - one for myself. I definitely need a treat!

Rag Angel and Poinsettia

It took me long time to finish with image of rag angel. It is a lovely picture but I was not sure what kind of finish to use. These tiny specks are just fine, what do you think?

I am not very keen on the poinsettia as a plant but flowers are spectacular! And I like these small buckets, they are so versatile, you can use them in many ways!
